Default What Does It Mean When...?

I want to try my luck terra tanking (E/A perma form build) UW HM in groups, and whenever I get into a group they ask "where dya wanna be? planes/pools/pits?"

What do they expect from you once you're there? Do you need to do a quest, clear the area of monsters, or what?

Thanks.

LOL...still wrong section. Try under Elementalist.

That said, they either want you to clear an area/finish a quest, or in the case of some like Four Horsemen, sometimes they just want you to solo tank a side so that they can do the other and then go kill what you distracted.

The last post in the other thread before it got locked said either here or the ele section

How will I know whether they want me to just clear the area or finish a quest though? Also, do they mean clear the area of every single enemy?

There are various forms of the Terra Tank, to me it's a damage taking tank which uses earth magic for armor, but there are other people who 'Terra Tank' but use offensive skills too, to damage and kill opponents. It seems to me that hardly anyone knows what a proper Terra "Tank" is, somehow it's been drilled into peoples minds that its only a super killing soloing machine, and then they send them to clear areas, so it's hard to find a group if you want to be a proper tank and do just that, be the tank/damage taker etc.

As always though there are many opinions and takes on it and some will think this or that is what a Terra Tank should be, but if you want to tank as normal and not be some super clearing hero, then try and get that through to them.

For some reason people might not get that, but that might be because they sheep along with whatever the new "meta" is, and that's just down right sad.

Why would you need any defense other than [Glyph of Swiftness][Shadow Form]? Maybe [Stoneflesh Aura] for smites but that's it. What are you going to do with the rest of the bar? Take useless stuff like [Armor of Earth][Kinetic Armor][Magnetic Aura][Aura of Restoration][Dark Escape]?
No thanks I'd rather kill shit.

Aside from the new craze, yes I was talking about a mantra of earth tank, I was just saying that no-one seems to want them anymore, I can see why too so don't be Mr. obvious and point that out, I was merely stating it seems hard to find a group that will let you be a good old fashioned tank.
